Journey – Faithfully

“Faithfully” is a popular song and power ballad by the band Journey, and the second single from their album Frontiers. It was written by Jonathan Cain. It peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving the band their second consecutive top twenty hit from Frontiers.

The song describes the relationship of a “music man” on the road. The difficulties of raising and maintaining a family, two strangers having to fall in love again, and staying faithful while touring are brought up. However he suggests that he gets the “joy of rediscovering” her, and insists “I’m forever yours… Faithfully.”

  1. I think the line in this song ” I get the joy of rediscovering you”, is one of the greatest lines in all of music. I love Steve Perry’s voice…but Jonathan Cain is one of the greatest song writers and lyricists of our time. I don’t think many people know just how talented he is.

    • Yep, He wrote the music and Steve brought it to life. I enjoyed Journey and I’m glad I have alot of their music, with Steve as lead.

  2. Wow. Such a powerful song. To experience it live and hear thousands of fans signing along is inspirational. Whenever this song plays, I have to stop what I am doing and enjoy something that has created so many fond memories for me.

  3. The road is a lonely lonely place!! Thank you all for bringing us the music and sacrificing your person life for our entertainment and inspiration…

  4. One of the best love songs ever, it was my wedding song in 1988. Great writer in Jonathan and the best vocalist of all time to sing it, with Mr. Steve Perry.

  5. The best Rock Band ever!!!! There hits are still influencing music and movies and people lives today. Rock On “Faithfully”

  6. We love Journey. My husband and I play guitar and whenver someone asks what we play, I say, “A lot of Journey!” Arnell sings every bit as well as Steve.
